Whew. Sorry about the wait, school makes me want to die.

By the way, if anyone is interested in helping me out by colouring...?

As for this page: Helene (she has accents on the two first e's, but) Lignier was a real person, who was excecuted by the SS after she and two other women sabotauged the work camp that they were placed in, after being arrested for being in the french resistance. She did not (as far as I am aware) murder anyone or burn anything down, haha, so I'm stretching this a little bit in order to make it more dramatic (that, and none of the characters are real people, as this is a comic, so). Anyway. She's the first real hit that we'll be able to see, and thus one of the first story arcs, so I hope you enjoy!

Ich liebe Der Verrater! This comic is awesome! It's not very often that I feel so compelled to read when the archive is small, (Not that it's a bad thing, take your time. =) ) But this comic is very captivating! Keep going. ^^
Out of curiosty, do you speak German?

Reply daestwen, May 23rd, 2007, 8:35 pm

In reply to Mercilly I don't, though my mother does, and my roommate speaks enough to get by. I can speak a little french and a little finnish, not that it will help me, haha. A lot of the german phrases I use come from propaganda circulated by the nazis during WWII.

I really like it!
It's rare to see historical comics around here; I was due for a change!

Oh... I'm afraid I can't do every page, as I have two comics of my own to keep up with, but I'd really like to color this page. Sudden urge. o_o

I love how snap-shotty the panels on this one look--and as always, der Verrater's hair makes me squee.

To Rizu Thanks for all your comments so far. :D

You can paint whichever pages you like, I totally don't mind. Anything coloured is good coloured. I tend to work black/white and red/another very specific colour, as that tends to work.

As for inking: I find it's pretty quick to do it that way, yeah. I use a .2 mm technical pen and it comes out nice. :)

I really hope you'll update I'm loving this.
Speaking as a jew this isn't ovensive this is incredible I've spent so much time un-vilifying germany and the nazis to my friends that I can't help but love this on sight even if it wasn't as well written and drwan.

the reason I try to un-vilify nazi germany is that many of the poeple not all but most only knew that poeple were being deprived of rights and even taken away but they didn't know about the death cams.

I also feel the need to point out of the 13 million or so poeple killed in the houlocuast only 6 million were jews. The others were gay, disabled, mentaly retarted, gypsys, quakers and other socital rejects.

good lord this is the longest comment ever. I'm sorry.

I forgot to ask--what color are hair and eyes on this page? And uniforms? And anything else I should adhere to (like Helene's clothes, or the backgrounds)?

I'm glad to see more updates! :D

In reply to Rizu Wilhelm is blonde/blue eyed and Der Verrater has black hair and dark brown/black eyes, but as I generally only do black/white and red, there's not really anything to worry about. ^^; They aren't in uniform on this page, just overcoats, so they'd either be grey or a light brown.

Ah, another responsa LongLiveRA... sorry, but plenty knew about the death camps. Not all, you are correct there, but plenty. Really. People knew. It's a tough truth to swallow. Oh, people didn't know the details, but when the ghettos were suddenly emptied, and soldiers do talk, and all the propganda floating around...well, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.
You are right, of course, that Jews were not the only victims of the war. But they were the only ones actively pursued unto death. If the Reich came across any other 'undesirable', such as a homosexual or mental retardent, they'd be done away with; but they were not actively and meticulously sought out from country to country. There was no Final Solution for gays. I am not trying to belittle anyone's suffering during the war, but for the sake of the historical record, I felt the need to straighten some things out.
But I do commend you on your efforts to de-villify Germany. It's amazng how far they've come since that dark time, and how careful they are with human rights now. I've met plenty of Germans, and they are very sweet. :-) I don't know why anyone would want to de-vilify Nazis, though.

To the author-sama....excellent work!! -luvs-
